Highlight Horticulture

Highlight Horticulture are a company that are rapidly expanding and specialize in…. They needed a solution to make there warehouse more efficient in stock turnover and capacity, opposed to just bulk stacking pallets separately. Our first proposal was to implement a standard wide aisle pallet racking system, this is needed in order for them to keep up with the demand for orders.

Business Needed

In order to do this they had to expand from there now old location in to a much bigger warehouse, set on a old RAF base in Newton which used to be an old aircraft hangar. This turned out to be ideal for the company as the hangar offered large areas of sheltered storage inside with high ceilings to maximize storage but also the land outside for optional storage and the take of deliveries.

UK Racking Solution

Once contacted by Highlight Horticulture, we promptly visited the site to survey the area to go through all possible options to find the one best suited to the customers needs. With the site having no pre-existing storage system in place it had allowed us a lot of freedom to begin a number of options that can increase the productivity of business.

We decided to design a system which allowed a high density of storage solution but allowed for the varying degree of the products they stored and also compatible with there current forklift truck. The best solution we came to was a wide aisle pallet racking system with a central drive through aisle in the center of the run to allow so the workflow of the warehouse is minimally interrupted. We had to make sure we allowed for the most pallet locations to be stored whilst still offering a large enough marshalling area to operate in.

The Result

As the pallets that were stored are a mixture of euro pallets and standard pallets this meant we had adjust the racking to suit, and made designated runs for the products storage, this allowed for better organization of the stock and allows for more efficient stock turnover. Also for were the building lowered in height we implemented low level pallet racking runs where some of the smaller products can be located to increase stock density.
