JL Priestley Bulk Services LTD
JL Priestley Bulk Services LTD are a UK distributor of food products ranging from herbs and spices to dried food and nuts. A rapidly expanding distributor out in Sleaford, Nottinghamshire, they are constantly looking to expand there operation to keep up for the demand for storage. We were contacted by JL Priestley through a recommendation of another business nearby their proposed site.
Business Needed
Upon the huge expansion process by JL Priestley Bulking Services we were approached to supply a solution to their current operation. At the moment JL Priestley’s operate with a on floor pallet storage operation, recently building 4 new sheds for the expansion of the business to keep up with the work load gives them the valuable room they need to maintain the size to there operation.
The team at UK Racking LTD were approached to incorporate and standardized system that was not too complicated to operate but allowed high storage density and greater efficiency throughout the loading and unloading processes, as their current method of bulk stacking pallets on the floor is becoming overwhelming to their current operation. After a couple of tweaks during the design stage we created a system that was the most ideal for what JL Priestley Bulk Services LTD intended to achieve, we started by creating a couple of smaller Drive In and Standard Pallet Racking combinations as it offered more maneuverability but lost out in pallet spaces which wouldn’t be feasible.
Our last design was settled to a full 3 block Drive in Racking system. Opting for a full Drive In Pallet Racking system therefore is one of the best solutions whilst being cost effective, this would allow much more efficient time keeping of staff and give organization to the products they are storing.
UK Racking Solution
Upon the first enquiry we visited the premises whilst the shed was being built to gain an understanding of the current operation. It became clear that bulk floor storage was becoming a problem and needed a new system to elevate there process as it was becoming rapidly inefficient. The new system will be implemented into a new building in three different blocks, this will be laid out with two block running along the sides of the walls consisting of 30 lanes and a third block in the center of 27 lanes allowing for maximal amount of storage lanes to be utilized whilst still being operational to the forklift driver.
We proposed a drive in system for this particular project as it is the most ideal for the type of product JL Priestley, here are some benefits:
- It will allow them to gain quick access to their stock
- Decreased stock turnover times
- Efficiency in operator times
- Increased storage density
- Minimal need for aisle space
